Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Review: The Complete Package?

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is Samsung's flagship this year, and was launched alongside the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. The highlight of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is its support for an S Pen stylus, which thus far, has been exclusive to the Galaxy Note series. Samsung has also chosen the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC for the Indian market, which is a first since all previous flagship Galaxy phones here have used Samsung's own Exynos SoCs. While my first impressions of the smartphone were positive, it's time to find out what it's like to live with Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra price in India The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at Rs. 1,09,999 in India for the base variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The higher variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at Rs. 1,18,999. In other regions, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is also available with 128GB and 1TB of storage, but not in India. Samsung offers the Galaxy S22 Ultra in Phantom Black, Phantom White, and Burgundy. I had the latter for this review. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra design The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a very different design compared to the the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+, and even its predecessor. It borrows design cues from the Galaxy Note series, and elements such as the big display with curved sides but flat top and bottom are all reminiscent of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (Review). The highlight of the Galaxy S22 Ultra has to be the in-built S Pen which gets its own silo in the phone itself, thereby carrying on the legacy of the Galaxy Note series. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra sports a large 6.8-inch display with a centred hole-punch cutout at the top. This panel has very thin bezels at the top and bottom. Its sides follow the curvature of the aluminium frame, making this phone look super premium, and this also helps to mask its actual width. The Galaxy S22 Ultra tips the scales at 228g and this weight is noticeable in the hand. However, Samsung has distributed the weight quite well which helps with one-handed use.
