Graphic Design For Business Cards - Why Its Worth It

Business cards are simple to design, right? All you have to do is layout your name and contact details and you're away. Wrong! If business cards were just about contact details they would have been replaced by digital versions already. Business cards are all about making a first impression on a new contact. Your card has to encapsulate your whole business brand and ethic. It has to convey the fact that you are established and trustworthy, and it has to be innovative enough to stand out from the crowd.

If this sounds like a big ask for one small piece of card, it is. And that is why it makes sense to get an inspired graphic design expert involved with the design of your card. Ideally the design of your business card should be part of a larger business branding exercise that extends into all your promotional materials, including brochures, stationery and website. However if your budget doesn't allow for that initially, at the very least get your card properly designed for you.

A graphic designer will work with you on the whole feel of your card, from colours and font used to graphics, photos, QR codes and the quirky details that make one card stand out from the rest. Once you've established a feel and a theme that resonates with your business brand, they will produce several variations for you to choose from, so you can select exactly the right design that speaks to you. The end result will look professional. It will work with your business image to produce a long lasting impression, reminding your contact of your business services long after your first meeting.

Compare this with a simple template designed business card, printed at home. While this approach does have some advantages, namely lower cost, printing off just a few at a time and being able to change details frequently, none of this can compensate for the absence of good design. Cards like these don't stand out and are likely to sink to the bottom of the pack. Without any distinguishing design elements it is harder to make an impression with your card and harder for your contact to remember who you were just from a glance at your card, so these basic cards are failing at their most important task - being memorable.

So it's worth it to invest in good graphic design and proper printing for your business cards and get your networking off to a professional start.

Many business owners start by putting their product, or service, first when they in their business. If you're thinking about starting a business, or even adding a new component to your existing business, starting by thinking about your product first is one of the biggest mistakes you will make.

One thing to consider, whether you're starting a new business, or bringing about an addition to your business, or maybe even fixing a service or product in your business, is your customers, clients, and prospects - the people on your list, the people you want to purchase whatever it is you're selling.

What you need to consider most is what your clients and prospects really want. They will tell you exactly what they're looking for. Sometimes, it's just a matter of listening, really listening to what kind of questions your clients are asking, listening to their concerns and their struggles will most times lead you in the right direction.

Maybe you have a great idea for a new product, or you want to add an information marketing component to your business. Regardless of what it is, you need to know if your clients want it from you or not.

So, before you market your new idea, before you invest in websites, ezines, webinars, live seminars, or whatever else you use to get your products out, you need to know if your customers have an interest in it. If you don't test the water, before you jump in, you're really taking a chance on belly flopping. And you need to keep this in mind anytime you do business.
