USB graphics adapters let you easily add an additional monitor to your PC or Mac. You can use any existing monitor, connect it to your USB graphics adapter, install DisplayLink software, and plug it into any USB port. There's no easier way to add an additional monitor to your PC or Mac. You can add up to six additional monitors to your PC or four additional monitors to your Mac, Chromebook or Ubuntu installation - you just need one USB graphics adapter for each monitor you want to add.
Universal docking stations turn the USB port of computer into a docking station connector. A single USB cable to your computer docks your portable device to support multiple display outputs, audio, Ethernet and other USB peripherals. Universal docking stations also let IT administrators standardize on one docking station throughout the organization as they can be used with the latest laptops, ultrabooks, Macbooks or Windows Pro tablets.

The DisplayLink chip in the dock runs DisplayLink firmware. The firmware image must be digitally signed by DisplayLink otherwise the DisplayLink chip will not run the firmware. The firmware in the dock ensures secure communitcation between the dock and the host computer over USB or wireless.
The latest DisplayLink drivers don’t work with the new USB 3.0 UGA multiple display adapter. Whether installing through the update utility that runs after installing the drivers from the CD yielding version 6.2.37054 or a fresh install from yielding version 6.2.37544, the outcome is the same. Blank screen and no DisplayLink utility displayed in the system tray. However, version 6.1.36490 which comes on the CD does work as long as you make sure to enable the Interactive Services Detection service.
The Interactive Services Detection service (which is enabled by default in Windows) is one of the dependencies of the DisplayLink drivers. Now that you have that re-enabled, is there any chance that the 6.2 driver install works now?
I tried both the fresh 6.2 install and the 6.2 upgrade with Interactive Services Detection service started, but neither worked. For some strange reason now the 6.1 doesn’t work either. When installing 6.1 from the CD or 6.2 from your website, Windows errors after I plug in the adapter into the USB 3.0 desktop card. It errors when trying to add the devices with errors “Device is unplugged.” but all connections are secure. When uninstalling the drivers, I leave the cable disconnected and I reboot. When installing the drivers, I also leave the cable disconnected and reboot before plugging the cable back in. Then I receive the error. After the error, I unplugged the USB cable and plugged it into the 2nd USB port. The DisplayLink software pops up for some reason and says please wait while it updates the device but it goes away and the device is still not added. I reboot again and the device is still not added. Any ideas?
This card works perfect with all 3 Plugable USB 3.0 video adapters connected simultaneously. I added a TrippLite USB 3.0 hub and after following the helpful advice on Plugable’s website on how to upgrade the VIA chipset firmware to the latest release (which is very stable) I am up and running. I will be adding one more hub so that I can connect all of my other USB devices (keyboard, touchpad, etc.) as well. Once that is complete, I will have only one USB 3.0 cable to plug into any computer which will instantaneously switch all devices to the connected PC. In a word, sweet!

If you are having issues with certain Windows 8 metro apps not working, DisplayLink has just released a new version v7.1 that fixes that issue. this fixed the blue screen issue with those apps but does not fix hulu or netflix issues all are having. They are working on it as i understand.
That is the same update I installed yesterday. Monitor finally started working, but wireless internet stopped working, After an hour of troubleshooting with no solution I restored system back to the time just before the update was installed. Wireless internet works again but no monitor.
You can extend or mirror your primary Windows desktop to a monitor connected to the USB3-3900DHE. With DisplayLink technology, graphics processing still is handled by connected computer’s central processor and graphics processor. The DisplayLink drivers on that PC compress and transmit pixels to the DL-3900 chipset, which decodes the data and displays it.
The USB3-3900DHE can be used in conjunction with any of Plugable’s other USB graphics adapters for adding extra monitors. Please note that USB graphics adapters not powered by DisplayLink technology cannot be used on your PC simultaneously with the USB3-3900DHE. Drivers for non-DisplayLink USB graphics adapters must be uninstalled from the PC.
We don’t recommend running games with USB graphics, because this emulation cannot be perfect. And even without specific compatibility problems, performance will always be a challenge – the extra CPU work required for USB graphics will be a source of reduced frame rates and problems. Normal desktop and application use are fine because they don’t push the system as hard as 3D games do.
Connect up to 10 accessories to your Windows PC through a single SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port with the Plugable UD-3000, a universal docking station for Windows-based computers that offers the speed, performance, and reliability found in proprietary docking stations for specific laptop PC brands. With graphics, networking, and hub chipsets that have been selected and tested together to ensure maximum quality, the UD-3000 provides.
Performance is best when hooking up the UD-3000 docking station to a USB 3.0 port on a PC, allowing SuperSpeed data-transfer rates of up to five gigabits per second between the computer and the dock’s USB 3.0 components and ports. Play full-motion video in 1080p on the monitor attached to the dock’s video port. Access your Gigabit Ethernet network through the dock’s network adapter without bottlenecks. Open files in lightning-fast time on external drives connected to the docking station’s USB 3.0 ports. The UD-3000 also can be connected to a computer’s USB 2.0 port, though communications between the computer and the docking station will be no faster than the USB 2.0 maximum of 480 megabits per second.
The UD-3000’s four-amp power supply provides current for attaching bus-powered devices to the spare USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, like flash drives or additional USB graphics adapters. However, the unit is not a charging hub. It has no functionality for recharging iPads, iPods, other tablets, or smartphones via its USB ports.
The heart of the docking station is its DisplayLink DL-3700 chipset, which manages graphics and audio output and Gigabit Ethernet functions. The integration of these functions on a single chipset means fewer internal components need to be bolted together, leading to increased comptibility and reliability overall. Drivers are installed automatically from Windows Update if an Internet connection is present when the docking station is first connected (a drivers CD also comes in the box).

The internal USB 3.0 components and two extra ports are managed by a VIA VL811 chipset, while the USB 2.0 controller chipset for the four USB 3.0 ports comes from Terminus Technology. USB 3.0 devices must be connected to USB 3.0 ports for proper functionality, but USB 2.0/1.1 devices can be connected to any of the six USB ports.
The HDMI standard is built on DVI. This enables conversion from DVI to with a simple, physical, passive adapter like the one included with the UGA-2K-A. HDMI routed through DVI does not include audio signals, and does not support HDMI content protection. It is suitable for displaying applications on a HDMI monitor and some TVs. It is not for Blu-Ray quality video playback.
The adapter supports HDMI through the 1.3 standard. To use a TV as a monitor via the adapter, the TV must support EDID, the extended display identification standard for communicating monitor capabilities to a PC. Many TVs that have a VGA port in addition to an HDMI port assume that computers will use VGA for connectivity rather than HDMI. In these cases, a VGA connection from the PC’s internal video card to the TV might provide the best results.
USB graphics devices, like the UD-3000, are “virtual” devices where much of the heavy lifting is done by the CPU, by hooking into the graphics stack. The DirectX APIs used by games assume direct hardware access (a PCIe graphics card). DisplayLink’s drivers attempt to emulate as much of the functionality as possible, which is why some 3D functionality (like that needed for desktop a
