1. Japan Sinks: 2020
This anime focuses on the Mutou family who live their lives in peace. However, the peace they had was instantly destroyed after an earthquake struck all of Japan. In an instant, Japan collapsed before them.
As their country slowly sinks, the Mutou family must unite to survive the catastrophe. Apart from having to struggle to survive, they also have to fight with grief because the people closest to them are leaving one by one.
2.Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
So the most popular anime in 2019, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado who finds his family slaughtered by demons. One of his younger siblings was turned into a devil. Even though his younger brother, Nezuko Kamado, was about to eat it, Tanjiro believed that he could turn his younger brother back into a human.
After meeting a pillar, Tanjiro is sent to train and become a demon hunter. Tanjiro also embarks on a new adventure to find a way to return his younger brother to human.
3. Fullmetal Alchemist
After performing a forbidden ritual to revive their mother, Edward Elric lost one of his arms and legs. While his younger brother, Alphonse Elric, had to lose his entire body. Experiencing bad luck, the Elric brothers decide to become State Alchemists in order to find a way to restore their bodies.
Fullmetal Alchemist has two versions, namely the 2003 version and the Brotherhood version which was released in 2009. Although in general both have the same story, they both have their respective advantages. You can watch both versions of this series, because Netflix provides both versions of this series by Hiromu Arakawa.
4. Violet Evergarden
Violet Evergarden is an orphan who grew up on the battlefield. Already in the military from an early age, Violet had no purpose in life other than taking orders from her superiors. Until one day, the war was over.
While his comrades in arms returned to their hometown, Violet was confused about what to do. Curious about what love means, Violet starts working at a company that provides letter writing services to someone.
5. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Since being brought back by Netflix, this anime that triumphed in the 90s has again become the topic of conversation for anime fans. Neon Genesis Evangelion tells the story of an earth that is already on the verge of collapse due to the attacks of extraterrestrials called Angels.
The only hope of humanity is NERV, the organization that creates Evangelion, a giant robot that can be used to fight against Angels. This anime focuses on Shinji Ikari, a teenager with a mental disorder who is forced to pilot Evangelion Unit-01.
