However, who would have thought, the forest, in fact, is not an ordinary forest. Rather, it is a magical forest. In which there is a giant playground. A kind of Disneyland and Fantasy World. The exact same one June had imagined.
However, unfortunately, the condition of the playground which is also called Wonderland is being neglected, damaged and in disarray. In fact, it is in danger of being destroyed. By a mysterious power. The one in the form of a giant cloud. The so-called "Darkness". That will suck it from above that sky.
June also tries to save Wonderland. What is true is his own creation. Fortunately, June is not alone. There, he is assisted by cute animals that inhabit Wonderland. Who can speak like a human. What had only existed in his imagination.
Wonder Park, which started the production process since 2014, is actually able to present a spectacle that spoils the eye. The visuals are beautiful. Loaded with colorful worlds. Which is full of charm. You could say, this 86-minute film succeeded in displaying June's imagination. Very real. Animated, of course.
However, unfortunately, in terms of story, Wonder Park feels a bit boring. Especially, the element of humor. That seems crunchy. Perhaps, many children like it. However, this is not the case with adult audiences. Because the comedy element feels less fun here.
Likewise with the elements of the drama. Which should really touch that heart. Feels bear. So it failed to provoke tears. However, fortunately, the ending part is quite touching and happy.
Not surprisingly, after being released in 2019, critics gave a less positive response. For films that spend a budget of up to USD 100 million. Likewise with his achievements at the box office. Minimalist one. The "only" USD 119 million.
Wonder Park, it seems, was deliberately made as a spectacle for children and adolescents. With some moral tucked inside. For example, about persistence. And an unyielding attitude. In realizing a dream. The one represented by the character June.
