DOLEMITE IS MY NAME is Pure Glory and Pleasure
I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my trip with this film for two hours, because it is truly one of the most exciting films I've seen this year.
This film tells the true story of an artist named Rudy Ray Moore (Eddie Murphy), who at first is just working in a music record shop during the day and working as an MC at night in a bar. He always dreamed that he wanted to become one of the famous artists, even though his efforts were always in vain.
One day, a homeless man entered his music record shop and he spit out many stories, one of which gave the name "Dolemite". Inspired, he took the name as his stage name and took the initiative to take the main stage at the bar where he worked and started making harsh jokes, which were met with cheers by the audience. The rest is history.
Dolemite is not only a character that elevates Rudy Moore's prestige, but also revives the name Eddie Murphy. After all this time we haven't heard of him, he returns with his eccentric style, his raunchy jokes, and his explosive personality playing Rudy Moore in Dolemite Is My Name .

The films that appear in my memory are films like Beverly Hills Cop , Coming to America , or Life and all of them are films before 2000.Dolemite Is My Name is like a redemption for Eddie, to remind us that he is still able to bring out a character that it is funny and fun for us to cheer on.

In the middle of the film, we are also introduced by supporting characters who also encourage the story and increase the excitement of this film. Like Ray's friend at the music shop Theodore Toney (Tituss Burgess), close friend Jimmy Lynch (Mike Epps), screenwriter Jerry Jones (Keegan-Michael Kay), and singer Ben Taylor (Craig Robinson). Every character in the film is able to bring out the jokes and fun that this film has.

But for me, there are two supporting characters who often steal my attention. The actor-then-turned-director D'Urville Martin (Wesley Snipes) and singer Lady Reed (Da'Vine Joy Randolph). While Ray was touring the states of America, he met a woman at a bar who turned out to be a singer. He also convinced Lady Reed to join his tour, so that he could support his child.

Indeed, this film is the type of film that makes the audience excited and always has fun, but it is not uncommon for this film to have its toughest moments. Lady Reed is a mother who just found out that her husband was having an affair. During one of his lowest moments, he meets Ray, the savior. Hope rose again in him. He also ended up always excited to follow Ray in any project, which ended up being a sweet moment in itself.

Then D'Urville Martin. This character based on a real character seems arrogant at first. When Ray met D'Urville at a striptease dance club and asked to play a film together, D'Urville said that he was not equal to Ray, and continued to spit the fact that he had appeared in Roman Polanski 's film Rosemary's Baby , even though Ben answered back. that he only appeared as an elevator operator in the film.
