Cyberpunk 2077's Night City is full of interesting characters to discover and speak to, and there's even a cameo from video game legend Hideo Kojima.
Cyberpunk 2077's Night City is full of fleshed-out characters, compelling side quests, and even some cameos here and there. One of these cameos in Cyberpunk 2077 is none other than Hideo Kojima, the Metal Gear franchise creator, and most recently, Death Stranding.
Hideo Kojima is known for his off the wall video games that typically break the norm when it comes to narrative and gameplay, with his titles often breaking the fourth wall.
To find Hideo Kojima in Cyberpunk 2077, players will first need to get to one of the main quest lines in the game called The Heist. The quest is fairly early on in the game --in act one to be exact-- so fans should have no issues getting to this point --it's impossible to miss out on.
Players will need to follow Jackie through a hotel until they both eventually reach a bar/nightclub area. Once Jackie asks the player what they want to do, choosing the option that says "Gonna have a look around" will allow V to explore the surrounding area.
Players can find Hideo Kojima sitting down on one of the couches in the section right behind the waitress. It can also be found by facing the bar in this area and then looking around the area to its right.
He'll be speaking to his buddies about storytelling and whatnot, and if V decides to speak to him, Kojima will keep ignoring them until he finally decides to ask V if they have a pitch for him. Players aren't actually able to continue the conversation, and there's nothing else that the player can do with Hideo Kojima besides the brief conversation. Still, it is a rather amusing easter egg to pay tribute to the famed game developer.
The video below can walk Cyberpunk 2077 fans through the steps required to find the iconic Hideo Kojima cameo:
As of right now, it's impossible to replay missions in Cyberpunk 2077, so once you finish The Heist quest, there's no way to find Hideo Kojima after the fact. The only way to replay this particular quest would be to start the entire game over again, so players should make sure to talk to Kojima when they have the opportunity.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions coming sometime this year.
Among all the exciting titles players are hoping to get their hands on in 2021, there is one long-dead franchise that some fans can't wait to see return, especially on next-gen consoles. This would be Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid series, which has seemingly been on permanent hiatus since Metal Gear Survive released after the series' creator left Konami.
Now, there are new next-gen consoles and PC tech to enhance the cinematic quality of the Metal Gear Solid series, adding ray tracing and higher frame rates to Kojima's iconic style. However, looking at the way the series ended, it might be some time before anything knew comes out of the franchise that isn't a pachinko machine.
